Hold Nothing Back

For the past six year, I have had the tremendous blessing of coaching middle and high school girls volleyball.  It was in high school that I fell in love with the sport but didn't have a competitive outlet until my adult years.  Coaching it is my outlet now.

Right around March, the itch begins.  I look over last season's team, intertwining them with new and prospective players.  It isn't long before I'm watching videos and reading volleyball manuals for plays and drills to push next season's team to the next level.  We need to jump higher, hit harder, and dive further.  We have to get lower, run faster, and pass with perfection.  We don't cry, apologize for poor play, or give false accolades.  Each young lady is encouraged to do their best then to make it better.  Leave it all on the court.  Hold NOTHING back!

This goes right along with our walk with the Lord.  Jesus wants us to "hold nothing back."  He wants everything we do and who we are to be completely surrendered to Him.  He wants every bit of us.  But this doesn't mean that He will do our Christianity for us.  He expects us to be intentional in our actions and thoughts.  We must "hold nothing" back when it comes to walking with Him and serving Him.

This is where the act of surrending is important.  There will be times that we may not have our own strength to do what He has asked of us.  He has promised to be our strength especially in our time of need.  If He sees our intention holds nothing back, He certainly won't hesitate to hold anything back from us.
