Revival Fires Weekend
March 1-3, 2019
(see schedule below)
Financial Support - Online Giving (Special Offering; memo: revival)
Over the past few years, our church has been praying for an awakening of people's hearts and lives and for new opportunities to genuinely love and care for the people we are connected with just as Jesus would genuinely love and care for others.
This has led us to our Revival Fires Weekend with Dr. Howie Shute. The event's namesake comes from a missions book, Revival Fires, he wrote about the revival in the Horn of Africa he witnessed. (You can find the book's audio at our downloads page HERE.) This time will be filled with stories of God's transformational power through prayer and obedience and training to help with ideas to genuinely love and care for others.
Weekend Speaker
Dr. Howie Shute served as a global missionary in the Church of the Nazarene for fifteen years, serving as Field Director and Field Strategy Coordinator for the Horn of Africa (HOA) for eleven years and as Assistant to the Regional Director responsible for church multiplication and development throughout the African continent for four years. In the eleven years that Howie led the work in the Horn of Africa, the Church grew from less than 200 persons worshiping in local Nazarene churches to approximately 200,000. During that time, he opened the work for the Church of the Nazarene in the Sudan and in two creative access countries. He also led in pioneering the work in several other Gospel-resistant African countries. Church Planting Movements (CPMs) have taken place in multiple people groups in the HOA and elsewhere across the continent, resulting in hundreds of new churches planted annually. Prior to Howie's call to Africa, he served eight years as a pastor and twelve years as a manufacturing executive.
Howie currently serves as Lead Pastor of Victory Hills Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, Kansas, where the early stages of a movement have begun. He speaks at revival services, holiness summits, and mission conventions, and holds missional strategy seminars for churches, zones and districts on a limited basis. He has written three books, entitled Underground, Revival Fires, and Mursi: Reaching the Unreached of Ethiopia.
It is Howie’s vision and passion to see a movement of God spread throughout America.
